Accessibility

What we aimed at

This site was built against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. That means, in practice:

• text contrast measured rather than guessed — body text at 4.5:1 or better, and controls and their borders at 3:1 or better;
• every control reachable and operable by keyboard, with a focus ring that is visible on light and dark backgrounds alike;
• every photograph carrying a description written for someone who cannot see it;
• headings in a real order, so a screen reader can be used to skim;
• a skip link, so a keyboard user does not have to tab through the menu on every page;
• tap targets sized for a thumb, not a mouse pointer;
• the layout tested from a 320-pixel phone up to a wide desktop monitor, in portrait and landscape.

Motion

If your device is set to reduce motion, this site honours that. The entrance animations do not run and everything is shown straight away. That setting lives in your operating system's accessibility settings, not on this site.

The before-and-after photo

The before-and-after comparison is a real slider. It can be moved with a mouse, a finger, or the arrow keys once it has keyboard focus, and both photographs carry their own description.
